GIKI Environmental Awareness Society presented GIKI clean room compitetion from 5th April to 6hr April.  It turned out that GIKIANs also have a good taste of Arts as many rooms were wonderfully decorated. Prizes were distributed among the Winners.

The NAQSH society of GIKI presented All Pakistan Art festival from 2 April to 5 April in which of students form all Pakistani major universities participated. Students showed their skills through paintings.

There were three different concerts during the course of the event and Pakistan’s famous music band Strings also perfomed on Sunday.

GIKI has appointed Dr. Mohammad Sultan Khan as the new Dean of Student Affairs. He is from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and holds an excellent record.

A student from GIKI has won the 2nd prize at “All Pakistan Digital Innovation and Competition Exhibition”. The student was awards Rs. 25,000 and a shield for the “Best Industrial Application” . Student had submitted the project, named “Water Flow Simulation & Analysis of Tarbela Dam Reservoir Through Spillways”, which was highly appreciated by the jury.

The event – All Pakistan Digital Innovation and Competition Exhibition was held in Lahore on 23-24th December 2009.

The Cultural, Dramatics and Entertainment Society (CDES) held their second annual play on the 20th of November 2009. The play was a murder mystery, titled “Mousetrap”, which had been penned down by Agatha Christie nearly half a century ago.

The play revolved around the owners and guests of a particular “Monks-well Manor Guest house” and their interconnected lives, bathed in murder, drama and mystery. The play was generally well received by the GIKI audience, making this event yet another successful endeavor by the CDES team.

The play was directed by Omair Sheikh. Members of the cast included Mir Durriya Zarrar, Ramsha Hussain, Usama bin Naseem, Waqaruddin, Abdul Ahad, Sabina Hafeez, Humayun Haroon and the director himself.

The event was indeed a fresh break from the monotonous, hectic everyday GIKI life.

GIKI Tennis Club (GTC) has announced that inductions from batch-19 will be on this Tuesday 17th, November. All the students of Batch 19 who want to join GTC are welcomed.

GIKI ”Student Affair Office” has issued a notice according to which the minimum attendance in a subject has been increased from 75% to 80%. This notice comes at such a time when many of the students have already far from 80% limit and they may not be able to get the minimum attendance required to sit in the examination. They will not be allowed to sit in the final examination of the semester.

Street football will start in GIKI on Friday 13th, 2009 outside Hostel #5. The Registration fee is only Rs.100/- per team and each team should have five players, with two rolling substitutes.

The Prize money for winner is Rs.1000!

GIKI volleyball tournament will starts from 12th November 2009! The rule is that a team must consist of four boys and two girls.

Last time, several boys were left out of this tournament because there are very few girls in GIKI who play volleyball.

GIKI reopened on Wednesday, 28th October 2009 after closing for a week due to security issues but students are still very concerned about the security situation in the area.
The pending Midterm exams will also take place in this week.  Many of GIKI societies have decided to delay their all national level events due to security situation in NWFP.
